About Us

We believe we are here to be our brother’s keeper so much of our efforts are in feeding the body, mind and spirit of those in need.
We believe there is no end to what a loving person can give when they know that supply is incorporeal, spiritual—that even financial resources are formed of spiritual substance so that every seed we plant in the Garden of Life brings back a rich harvest in like kind and so we plant our seeds of faith liberally and share the bounty of our harvest.

We believe the earth is a gift, and our purpose is to honor that gift by living upon it peacefully, harmoniously and lovingly. Many of our celebrations are in honor of the land that we are so blessed to share with all who would come seeking momentary respite.

We believe that we are eternal spirit having a human experience, and we are here to do the very best we can.
We believe we create our heaven or hell by our thoughts, words and feelings, and that our actions speak far louder than our words, and so we put our love into action in every opportunity that presents itself.

Forty years ago we took our first baby steps of service by helping a family in desperate need. We had little ourselves and the actions we took seemed foolhardy as we had no idea how we would be able to replace the precious little we had to offer. In complete faith we simply dedicated ourselves to this family’s need, understanding that if our brother is hungry, there is little comfort if we are satiated.

By living in accordance with our complete faith in universal supply, we have been provided for in even the leanest of times.

But this supply is not for us alone, it is for the many, many families that we have been entrusted to share with. For more than forty years we have believed that God would provide, and for more than forty years we have seen seemingly miraculous examples of people stepping in to meet the needs of the many. As we have dedicated ourselves to helping those in need, others have come to share their gifts and to be a part of the work that together as partners with God, we continue to do. It is in this spirit of giving that we are truly most aware of all that we have in our lives. What we have learned over the years and seen demonstrated again and again, is that we simply cannot out give God.

Our Intent is to live each day in loving gratitude for the Gift of Life. We believe in leaving every place better than when we found it, by cleaning up, fixing up, planting and beautifying whenever possible. We offer loving and compassionate service to those less fortunate than ourselves and commit ourselves to helping community welfare programs.

We join together to present a weekly spiritual worship service at every Brigade of Light Center.
Jesus said, “Meet with me one hour”. Whether it is just a few of us meeting for one hour of spiritual discourse, or the Chapel is standing room only, we gather every Sunday to sing, pray and learn together in a non-judgmental spiritual environment. All are welcomed to join us for these weekly services!

The Motherhouse of the Brigade of Light is located at Terra Nova Center in Cedar Mountain, North Carolina. If you would like more information about Terra Nova Center please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Even better, plan a visit to Terra Nova. We’d love to see you on the mountain!
